Screen Reader Access

This page provides information about the screen reader software compatible with the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav (BVM) 2026 website. We have built the site to conform to the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW 3.0) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, so that visitors with visual impairments can access the content using assistive technology of their choice.

In addition to working with external screen readers, BVM 2026 includes its own accessibility toolbar — accessible from the icon at the top right of every page. The toolbar offers:

• Adjustable text size (default, large, extra large)

• High-contrast and light-mode themes

• Big-cursor and dyslexia-friendly font (OpenDyslexic) options

• Highlight all links

• Reduce motion (pauses background video, carousels, marquees)

• A built-in Read Aloud feature that uses your browser's speech engine to read the page in English or Hindi (where supported)

All preferences are saved in your browser and applied on every visit.

• Press Tab from the top of the page to reveal the "Skip to main content" link, which jumps past the navigation.

• Major regions of each page are exposed as landmarks (banner, navigation, main, contentinfo) so you can jump between them using your screen reader's landmark shortcut (for example, D in NVDA, VO + U in VoiceOver).

• All registration forms are fully labelled and announce required fields, validation errors, and submission status.

• Decorative images and animations are hidden from assistive technology so they do not interrupt your reading flow.
